Jon Bon Jovi will be honored at the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year Gala, taking place on Friday, February 2, 2024, during GRAMMY Week.
MusiCares has named Jon Bon Jovi as its 2024 Person of the Year. The GRAMMY-winning lead singer and founding member of the American rock band Bon Jovi is the honoree at the 33rd annual Person of the Year Charity Gala, which will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Friday, February 2, 2024, two nights before the 2024 GRAMMY Awards. Proceeds from the event will provide critical support to MusiCares, the leading music charity providing medical and humanitarian services to music professionals across a wide range of needs.
In addition to his immense musical achievements, Jon Bon Jovi has also been recognized for his impactful philanthropy. In 2006, he founded the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, an organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of hunger, poverty and homelessness. The organization’s goal is to recognize and maximize the human potential of those affected by hunger, poverty and homelessness by providing programs that provide food and affordable housing while supporting social services and job training programs. As a health and human services charity, MusiCares is proud to shine a light on Jon Bon Jovi’s impactful philanthropy and hopes to raise awareness of these important human rights issues.
“I am truly humbled to be honored at MusiCares this year,” Jon Bon Jovi said in a statement. “MusiCares’ work with music professionals is critically important in creating much-needed support and wellness programs that help build a healthier, more vibrant community for all of us. Philanthropy is a cornerstone of my life and has always been a part of my music career and accomplishments. Nearly two decades ago, when I founded the JBJ Soul Foundation and JBJ Soul Kitchens, I saw firsthand and continue to see the impact of community-based philanthropy today. I know this for sure: Helping the community is helping yourself.”
“MusiCares is thrilled to honor Jon Bon Jovi at the 2024 Person of the Year Gala,” said Laura Segura, CEO of MusiCares, in a statement. “His remarkable contributions to rock and roll have not only left an indelible mark on the music industry, but also on the hearts of countless fans around the world. Furthermore, his enduring commitment to serving the food insecure and homeless inspires us all. We look forward to honoring him and the many ways he made a difference in the world.”
The MusiCares Person of the Year ceremony is one of the most prestigious events held during GRAMMY Week each year. The event includes a cocktail reception followed by a dinner and tribute concert, with renowned musicians and other artists performing to honor the honoree at the gala.
Since 1991, proceeds from the MusiCares Person of the Year Gala have gone to MusiCares’ health and social services programs supporting the music community in physical and mental health, addiction recovery, preventative clinics, unforeseen personal emergencies, and disaster relief. Jon Bon Jovi now joins an impressive list of recent MusiCares honorees, including Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson, Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac, and Dolly Parton. The event will once again be produced by the Lewis & Clark live broadcast team, consisting of Joe Lewis and RA Clark. Rob Mathes will serve as Music Director for the special evening.
The event would not be possible without the support of sponsors including AEG, ELS STUDIO 3D Premium Audio, and the Wasserman Foundation.
Nearly five decades into his illustrious career, Jon Bon Jovi is still basking in the glory — and his latest title as the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year reflects all the ways he’s given back to the music community.
