Late on June 24, Vietnam time, many behind-the-scenes photos of the movie Superman: Legacy were posted on social network X by reporters of Cleverland.com – the information page of the city of Cleverland (Ohio, USA).

It is known that the Superman film crew came to Cleverland to film action scenes.

In particular, Superman’s costume was also officially revealed with the classic dark blue and burgundy colors, along with the appearance of Mister Terrific (played by Edi Gathegi), a superhero character adapted for the first time to the big screen.

Controversy over Superman’s costume

DC Comics fans in Vietnam and around the world are particularly interested and discuss the costumes of these two characters.

The focus remains on DC’s new Superman played by David Corenswet, whose costume has divided opinion.

Loyal comic book fans have praised the “comic-standard” motifs and color scheme of the new costume, especially the return of the character’s signature gold belt and red pants, jokingly called “underwear”.

“It’s so beautiful, close to the comics, creative color tones, creating a familiar feeling for true Superman fans” – a Vietnamese user commented on Facebook.

On the contrary, those who love the DCEU and Henry Cavill’s version of Superman criticize the new design for being too colorful, not as minimalistic and flattering as Zack Snyder’s version.

At the same time, they also think that the shadow Henry Cavill leaves behind is too big, and the new actor will find it difficult to replace.

Originally, the costume and appearance of the new Superman have received mixed opinions since May 2024, starting with the photo the director revealed on his personal page. Now that fans have seen the costume with their own eyes, the controversy continues.

Unlike the main character, Mister Terrific’s appearance and costume are considered by most DC fans to be perfect “like coming out of a comic book”, with a sports leather suit and a T-shaped mask close to his face.

In comics, Mister Terrific is a famous character with outstanding intelligence and proficient fighting skills. He is a character similar to Batman when he mainly uses technology to hack, disguise and defeat enemies instead of superpowers.

Superman: Legacy is a film that plays the role of rebooting James Gunn’s DC Cinematic Universe, a project that just started early this year but always causes controversy in the fan community every time new information is revealed.

However, many US film news sites still assess that James Gunn’s “cool hand” in superhero films will have a high chance of reviving the DC Universe, especially after the success of The Suicide Squad (2021).

Superman: Legacy is expected to premiere in November 2025, this is one of the projects that superhero fans are most looking forward to in the near future.
