Reports on Wednesday suggested Cavill, 35, was out as the Man of Steel. The actor kept silent on whether he was staying on as the superhero. Warner Bros. told PEOPLE in a statement they “always had great respect for and a great relationship” with Cavill.

A possible replacement for Cavill could be Jordan, 31, who has been considered for the role in a report by Deadline. Experience is on the actor’s side as he previously played Killmonger in Marvel’s Black Panther.
