The lead singer of the band Bon Jovi reminisced during an interview with Michael Strahan on ABC’s “Halfway There” special airing Monday. During the interview, the two talked about Bon Jovi’s marriage to wife Dorothea Hurley, whom the rock star began dating in high school and married in 1989.

“I’m a rock ‘n’ roll star. I’m not a saint,” he joked a bit. “I’m not saying there aren’t 100 girls in my life. I’m Jon Bon Jovi. That’s pretty cool!”

While it’s unclear when these women came into Bon Jovi’s life, he also insisted that he never did anything to “jeopardize” his relationship with Hurley.

“But if you think I would risk… anything to believe that the narcissistic nature of me is real? That’s a stupid thing to do. What kind of excess does a man need to fuel that fire? It’s not worth it.”

The “Always” singer’s comments to Strahan come on the heels of a similar quote about Hurley and their marriage that Bon Jovi told the Independent last week.

“It’s all the great rock star clichés,” he told the outlet. “It’s never lying about being a saint, but also not being stupid enough to ruin your family life.”

It’s also worth noting that Bon Jovi has long considered himself “unholy,” and what he meant by that may not be as sinister as it seems.

“I was in one of the biggest rock bands in the world for 25 years, and I’m not a saint, and I’m not a saint,” he said at the time. “I missed a ton of birthdays and school plays. But it’s not like Dorothea came in the middle of the movie and didn’t know who she was seeing.”

Bon Jovi and Hurley met at a New Jersey high school in 1980, according to People. They split briefly in 1985, when the rocker began a five-month relationship with actress Diane Lane. Bon Jovi and Hurley rekindled the flame shortly after and married in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas in 1989. In 1993, Bon Jovi released the single “Bed of Roses,” which spoke of the singer’s regrets over his short-lived flings on the road.

Bon Jovi and Hurley, who recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary, have four children — Stephanie, 30; Jesse, 29; Jake, 21; and Romeo, 20.
