“Dolly Parton is a national treasure” — Fans blast The Federalist’s “False Gospel” article on the singer
American singer and actress Dolly Parton was recently criticized by The Federalist’s “False Gospel” article which was published on June 6, 2024. The article labeled the actress as a “secular American saint” and talked about how she had responded to accept the LGBT alliance.
In one part of the article by The Federalist mentioned,
“Parton’s version of love, which includes condoning immoral s*xual behavior (“be who you are,” she’s said), is unaligned with God’s vision for humanity.)”
The article, however, did not sit right with the netizens as they defended Parton from this article on X. One user wrote,
“Are they f*cking insane. Dolly Parton is a national treasure.”

One tweet read:
“The federalist is so demented they came for…….. Dolly Parton.”
Another user also wrote,
“WHAT? Oh no they didn’t!”
A lot of other people too, took to the social media platforms to bash The Federalist for the article on Parton.
The Federalist posted an article on Dolly Parton ridiculing her for being an “LGBTQ+ icon”
In the article published by The Federalist, which is also best known as a conservative website, Dolly Parton was criticized for her stance on the LGBT community.
The writer, Ericka Andersen, argued that while it is acceptable for Parton to treat everyone with love, it wasn’t fine to “label sin as sin.” Andersen claimed that Parton uses her faith as an excuse to promote the ideology of “love is love” and pointed out how Parton frequently references Christianity to justify her non-judgmental attitude.
The article stated that Parton had believed in “immoral s*xual behavior” which would not align with the religion. Andersen further claimed that while Parton has previously spoken about her background in which she mentioned that she got her upbringing from a church, she also was labeled an “LGBTQ+ icon” by The Advocate.
Andersen then brought up one of her statements that she reportedly gave on Drew Barrymore’s chat show. Parton had said, as per The Federalist article,
“I’m not a good enough person or a good enough Christian to judge and criticize other people.”
They repeatedly pointed out that Parton avoided declaring homosexuality as a “sin”, possibly because of massive criticism. The article described the actress as someone who had always wanted to stay clear of controversies.
The article also criticized Christian singer Lauren Daigle, who didn’t respond well when asked if homosexuality was a sin. Daigle said,
“I’m not God.”
The Federalist had previously spoken about Dolly in another article in 2022
In 2022, a story was published by The Federalist, where they asked the readers to visit Dolly Parton’s Dollywood instead of the Disney Parks. This story came out shortly after Disney Parks criticized Republican Governor Ron DeSantis’ “Don’t Say Gay” bill. The article read:
“Even setting aside their recently revealed support for destroying human happiness through sexual chaos, Disney’s products push a lifestyle that doesn’t reflect my goals for family life.”
Fans immediately took to social media platforms then, to make it clear that Parton was already an LGBTQ+ icon, and that people from all communities have been warmly welcomed in Dollywood.
Dolly Parton recently made headlines after she announced that a musical based on her life is in making, for Broadway. Variety further reported a statement given by Parton herself, on the upcoming show. She said,
“Hello, I’m Dolly, and I lived my whole life to see this show on stage. I’ve written many original songs for the show and included all your favorites in it as well. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll clap, you’ll stomp; it truly is a Grand Ol’ Opera. Pun and fun intended. Don’t miss it!”
The announcement was made on Thursday, June 6, at the CMA Fest in Nashville.
