Oleksandr Usyk is a massive Eminem fan. The Ukrainian boxer has claimed to have drawn inspiration from the American rapper when he first faced Tyson Fury back in May. Usyk won the bout and created history by becoming the first-ever undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.

Now that the 37-year-old is ready to face Fury again to defend his unified status, his old pictures with Eminem resurfaced, causing some hysteria amongst the fans. The fans berated the American rapper over his political ideology while dragging Oleksandr Usyk into the crossfire as well.

Oleksandr Usyk’s unforgettable night

The unified heavyweight champion met Eminem in Riyadh during the Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou fight in October 2023. It was a significant moment for ‘The Cat’ as he was surprised to realize that the ‘Lose Yourself’ rapper knew who he was. TNT Sports recently took to their Instagram to share a few pictures from that meeting and also inserted a clip from a DAZN interview where Usyk revealed that Eminem was his favorite rapper. The caption read, “The collab you never expected…When Oleksandr Usyk met Eminem 📸.”

 

In a conversation with Sky Sports last year, the 22-0 boxer claimed, “I have listened to Eminem for many years. I like this rapper,” revealing his admiration for the Detroit native. Furthermore, Oleksandr Usyk has often used his songs in training and workouts.

That is why when the Ukranian first met the rapper, everyone knew what a huge deal it was for him. The fans showered the crossover with love and admiration at the time. However, it looks like the script has completely turned in a year, especially due to the recent US presidential election and Eminem’s outspoken support for Kamala Harris.

Comments section turns political

A fan commented on the TNT post about the American rapper’s declining looks due to his age. He wrote, “Eminem looks more like a wax work doll every day😂,” claiming that his age has not been kind to him. Considering Eminem is 52 years old now, it is to be expected.

It looked like the fans did not want to let go of the rapper’s appearance as another fan wrote, “That’s eminem’s double,” claiming that the Detroit native looks like a clone of himself. Over the years, there have been many speculations about Eminem getting plastic surgeries, however, there is no concrete proof of that.

However, another fan felt the same and wrote, “Asked for Eminem, got David Gest,” comparing the 52-year-old with movie producer David Gest. But no matter the claims, Eminem has taken care of himself sensationally and looks quite young for his age.

The conversation then took a serious turn as fans started ridiculing the rapper for his political views. A user wrote, “Em will do anything for 💰, ask Harris.” During the US Presidential election of 2024, Eminem spoke briefly at a rally in Detroit in support of Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. Slim Shady’s political viewpoint and his open support towards Harris rubbed Donald Trump supporters the wrong way. Even though Trump won the elections, the fans have been out slamming the Oscar-winning rapper. Another user, echoing similar thoughts, wrote, “Eminem. What a tool,” criticizing the 52-year-old for his left-leaning ideology.

However, it’s unlikely that Oleksandr Usyk will lose his sleep over Eminem’s political views. The Ukrainian takes inspiration from the rapper’s story of resilience and will continue to do so in his upcoming rematch against Tyson Fury.
