WNBA star Angel Reese admits she’s living beyond her means, can’t pay rent

WNBA salaries have been a hot topic of conversation at the start of the 2024 season after Caitlin Clark’s salary was revealed as the WNBA’s first-round pick.

However, Clark isn’t the only player to receive a shockingly low base salary.

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese earned $73,439 in base salary during the 2024 season and will earn $74,909 in 2025, according to Spotrac.

Reese said in an Instagram Live video on Wednesday that she wants the “haters” to keep “hating” because that’s how she makes money.

“I’m living beyond my means. Hate pays my bills, baby. I just hope you know the WNBA doesn’t pay my bills at all,” she said, via Vibe Magazine. “I don’t even think that pays one of my bills. I’m literally trying to think of my rent for where I live. Let me do the math real quick. I don’t even know my (WNBA) salary, $74,000?”

“Honey, if you think … That WNBA check doesn’t pay for anything,” she added. “Does it even pay for my car? … I couldn’t even eat a sandwich with that money. I couldn’t even eat. I wouldn’t be able to live.”

Reese isn’t just playing in the WNBA. She’s playing in the Unrivaled basketball league with many WNBA stars. She also has a podcast.
