The ‘Voltron’ Movie Will Introduce a New Generation of Pilots

The live-action adaptation brings together an all-star cast, including Henry Cavill, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Sterling K. Brown, Rita Ora, Alba Baptista, Samson Kayo, John Kim, Tharanya Tharan, Laura Gordon, and Tim Griffin. A live-action adaptation has been in the works since as far back as 2005 and, following several delays and setbacks, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and Red Notice director Rawson Marshall Thurber is now all set to helm the project, which will introduce “an entirely new generation of pilots.”
Not only will Henry Cavill play a big role in Amazon’s Voltron, but he is also set to reunite with the studio for another beloved ‘80s property: Highlander. Cavill will take the lead as the titular immortal warrior in John Wick director Chad Stahelski’s long-awaited remake. While Highlander doesn’t yet have a release date (it’s expected to finally hit screens in 2026), Stahelski has now confirmed that the Highlander reboot is his next project while speaking exclusively with MovieWeb’s own George Edelman.
“But I am focused on the John Wick world, and I’m trying to infuse things I love into the right fit. But the real growth happens afterwards, when you have time to reflect on all the sh*tty mistakes you made and all the things that I could have done better, and then you get the new influence of the filter effect of life. Like, just going to New York for a week and scouting there [for Highlander]…I’m doing Highlander next. So now I’m in that kind of mode.”
