Stephen King apologizes after false claim about Charlie Kirk after his death

Stephen King is asking people to go see his new movie after his books were canceled by a large book company for falsely claiming Charlie Kirk wanted gays stoned.

Stephen said he made an homest mistake so he deleted the post. He doesn’t understand why people are trying to ruin his life & legacy over a mistake.

Maine author Stephen King is facing backlash after making a false claim on X, formerly Twitter, about conservative political activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed on Wednesday.

In a now-deleted post, King wrote, “He advocated stoning gays to death. Just sayin’,” in response to a post by Fox News host Jesse Watters, who had called Kirk a “patriot.”

Following criticism online, King deleted the post and issued an apology on X.

Among those who condemned King’s comment was Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, who responded on X, calling the author a “horrible, evil, twisted liar.”

Kirk was shot and killed during a campus event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah on Wednesday.

Authorities arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who has been identified as the suspect in the killing.

Belfast Books, a U.K.based online bookstore, announced Friday it would no longer sell King’s books following his comments.
