Instead of partying during the holiday season, American singer John Legend and supermodel Chrissy Teigen often spend time on charity and community service.
The couple donates to many homeless support organizations, as well as social and charitable organizations such as Feeding America and City Harvest. Last Christmas, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen participated in the Baby2Baby charity event at Dodgers Stadium. This is a program that calls on celebrities to participate in distributing toys and necessities to hundreds of children and families in difficult circumstances in the Los Angeles area.
Before Thanksgiving 2023, John Legend and his wife also spent time volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Los Angeles. Here, they prepared breakfast for families with children receiving special medical care in the area. “We had a great Sunday afternoon with the families. These families came from all over and their children are in the hospital. We were so happy to be able to come cook and spend time with them,” said John Legend.

Teaching Kids to ‘Give Back’
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen also take their kids to charity events to teach them about gratitude and the importance of giving back to the community. The “All of Me” singer is happy to turn charity events into family activities. In 2023, he and his wife took Luna and Miles to Ronald McDonald House Charities for their kids to participate in charity events there. While their parents were busy cooking, Luna and Miles quickly became friends with other children, some of whom were patients or the siblings of patients. The kids played basketball and had fun together. “We want to teach our kids that it’s important to give back, to be kind, to help others when they’re struggling. Be kind. Give back. Be generous with your time and what you have,” said the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) award-winning singer.
John Legend’s wife also shared that, from a young age, Luna was considered an influential person. She received many gifts thanks to her parents’ fame. Although she loved some items, she was still happy to give them away when she knew others needed them.

Giving Each Other Simple Gifts
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen don’t give each other extravagant gifts for Christmas. “Christmas is a time for the kids. We don’t like to give each other expensive gifts because we have birthdays, Valentine’s Day, and our wedding anniversary,” John Legend said. During the holiday season, Chrissy Teigen likes to give her husband simple gifts, like bathrobes and work bags. “Chrissy gives me great gifts every year. It’s usually a bag that I can carry with me to carry my essentials,” the 45-year-old singer shared.
Although they live in Los Angeles, John Legend’s family has a special tradition of spending the holidays in New York City. They enjoy the atmosphere of New York together, especially the cold weather, the festive energy, and the bright lights that fill the city.

This year will be the second year that the John Legend family celebrates Christmas with six members.
John Legend plans to bring his famous album “A Legendary Christmas” back to the music scene, with tours starting in early December in many states across the US. “Over the years, I have experienced the holiday season in many different ways. Each stage, from being a child to being a father, has shaped the way I approach this season,” the “Imagine” singer shared. “I want to share that journey with audiences, through songs and stories that celebrate the spirit of the holidays and the moments that bring us closer together. I hope people will feel like they are part of something warm, familiar and special.”
