As one of the singers with a huge income, “British Nightingale” makes many people doubt when saying that it is difficult to own real estate in the UK.
Adele is a special case in the world music industry. She signed a recording contract with XL Recordings in 2006. Surpassing all expectations, with only three albums, Adele became one of the best-selling artists in the world, with 120 million records sold.
All those record sales have made her one of the richest pop stars in the UK and owns a fortune worth 220 million USD, according to Fortune.

Adele has a team of expensive staff including stylists, personal trainers, assistants and a few bodyguards. The singer also built an impressive property portfolio for herself.
The first of her many lavish properties was a £3 million 10-bedroom mansion in Sussex, called Lock House, which she bought in 2012 as her career took off following the success of her first album, 21. Lock House has five bedrooms, two offices and a helipad.
Expanding her property portfolio, Adele bought a lavish Art Deco beach house in Hove, just outside Brighton, for £3 million.

In 2016, the singer continued to buy her first house in Beverly Hills for $9.5 million. According to Variety, the house has four bedrooms, six bathrooms and a swimming pool.
The singer did not stop there when she bought another property in Beverly Hills for $10.65 million after splitting from her ex-husband Simon Konecki.
And most recently, the singer bought a third house, next to the other two. The 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom mansion, with a swimming pool and basketball court, costs $9.95 million. This mansion, along with the other two properties, has the potential to create a giant complex.
… But can’t buy a house in London
In 2021, global superstar Adele admitted that the real estate prices in her hometown of London made it difficult for her. Adele has revealed that she moved to Los Angeles because she “couldn’t afford” property in London. “The kind of house I have in LA, I could never afford in London,” Adele said. “It costs hundreds of millions of pounds, I don’t have that kind of money.”
In her first interview in five years, the singer has been candid about her views on property prices in her hometown. Speaking about her decision to move, the singer revealed that she wanted to improve her quality of life. “I spend most of my time in a car or inside a building,” Adele said. “I want fresh air and somewhere where I can see the sky.”
Adele’s story reflects the reality of property prices in the UK. According to Rightmove, the UK’s largest property portal and property website, the average asking price of a home in the UK has risen for three straight months.
However, this has made social media users skeptical because the income of the “British nightingale” is not low.
“Adele can’t buy a house in London? What should we do?”, one Twitter user expressed.
“She owns three houses in LA, worth a total of $30 million, but she can’t buy real estate in London?”, another wondered.
