During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, actor Henry Cavill opened up about growing up with four brothers after the talk show asked if he got an early start toward being an action star. “You do all this stuff now but it sounds you got an early start,” Graham Norton said before adding, “You grew up with these four brothers.”

While the talk show host stated that a bit of rough and tumble among brothers might be expected, he also pointed out that the situation in Henry Cavill’s house was “intense.” The Argylle star further shared insight into his formative years with his brothers, describing it as being in a constant state of survival mode.

“I mean, we were living on the edge of survival most of the time,” he said. Cavill shared that he and his brothers engaged in “a lot of rough and tumble.” The 40-year-old actor also shared that they had one significant rule not to punch one in the face.

He further stated, “When you have stairs a lot can happen, a lot of injuries can happen.” The British actor shared that such accidents were inevitable, leading to injuries and even bloodshed, which later became the prominent reason their house underwent an unplanned makeover.

As he shared insight into growing up alongside four brothers, Henry Cavill recalled an incident involving a spontaneous house makeover that left their father less than pleased. He shared that upon returning home from work one day, his father was taken aback to discover that the wallpaper had been changed without prior discussion.

“He was like hold on a second why you change the wallpaper without any kind of discussion about it,” he recalled. Cavill’s father then went to his mother to find out the reason behind the sudden change, who suggested it was Cavill and his brothers’ antics that led to the unplanned change of wallpapers.

The Tudors star shared that his mother quite simply told his father, “It’s easier to clean the blood off this wallpaper.” The talk show host shared his amazement over how their antics resulted in “blood splatter.” As Cavill emphasized their rule of never punching in the face, Norton playfully added, “Just stabbing, just stabbing.”
