Reimagining Wonder Woman: Casting Choices for the Future of the DC Universe Post-Gal Gadot

Gal Gadot will not be returning as Wonder Woman in the new DC Universe, and that opens the door for some talented actresses to take over the role.

Gadot played Diana Prince in multiple DCEU movies, including two solo adventures — the beloved Wonder Woman and the highly criticized Wonder Woman 1984. Her future as Wonder Woman became uncertain with the reveal that James Gunn and Peter Safran would be rebooting the DCEU with their new DC Universe, as well as the cancelation of Wonder Woman 3.

Gadot then made some comments that teased a return as Wonder Woman in the DCU, with her seemingly working alongside Gunn and Safran on a Wonder Woman 3. That has now been debunked, as a new report reveals that the DCEU’s Justice League cast will not return in Gunn’s DC Universe as their characters. Aquaman actor Jason Momoa was said to be in talks to play a new DC role in the DCU, leaving Gadot’s possible DC future with a new character. That means the Wonder Woman role is available for the new DC Universe, and there are some talented actresses that could replace Gadot as DC’s new Wonder Woman.

Jodie Comer Has Appeared In Free Guy, Killing Eve, & The Last Duel

Jodie Comer has it all. From her dramatic ability to her impeccable comedic timing, the actress would be able to bring a reinvigorating energy to the Wonder Woman of the new DC Universe.

The new Wonder Woman needs to be compassionate, confident, charming, and, most of all, a warrior. Comer has shown with past roles in projects such as Free Guy and her leading role as Villanelle in Killing Eve that she has what it takes to play a compelling, action-heavy character such as Diana. Comer’s dramatic skills are showcased in The Last Duel, with the actress’ range being perfect to make Wonder Woman one of the DCU’s best heroes.

Adria Arjona’s Marvel & Star Wars History Sets Up A Perfect DCU Future

Adria Arjona Has Appeared In Andor, 6 Underground, & Morbius

Adria Arjona’s popularity has skyrocketed after her debut in the Star Wars universe, with the actress giving life to the charming Bix Caleen in Disney+’s Andor. Bix is fierce, charming, and has a no-nonsense attitude, which makes Arjona a great pick to become the DC Universe’s Wonder Woman.

Arjona’s role in Netflix’s 6 Underground opposite Ryan Reynolds showed her ability to bring Wonder Woman’s epic fights to life. The actress also needs to get a better superhero role on her credits after appearing in the infamous Morbius, and there is no better role for Arjona than that of the DCU’s Wonder Woman.

Alexandra Daddario Would Be Perfect To Bring DCU’s Wonder Woman Into Live-Action & Animation

Alexandra Daddario Has Appeared In Percy Jackson, True Detective, & The White Lotus

Finally, Alexandra Daddario stands as one of the most popular fancasts for Wonder Woman. Daddario’s role as the daughter of Athena — a patron goddess of the Amazons — Annabeth Chase in two Percy Jackson movies makes the actress a perfect fit to take up Wonder Woman’s Greek mythology ties in the new DC Universe, an important aspect of the hero that was barely explored by the DCEU. Daddario voicing Lois Lane in DC’s animated Tomorrowverse continuity is good for her chances, as whoever is cast as Wonder Woman will also have to voice her in animation and video games.
