Paige Spiranac receives a major scare on social media, sends an urgent warning to her loyal followers
The former professional golfer continually has to deal with all kinds of negative messages on social media.
Paige Spiranac had a close encounter with the dark side of fame.
Haters, trolls, and detractors are the daily bread for influencers and Internet personalities. Even the most modest content creators on social networks come across these characters every other day. The more famous they are, the more problematic followers they have to face.
Spiranac is no exception. Videos of her in tight clothing, bikinis, or extremely short skirts attract legions of followers, including numerous haters. However, once in a while, the San Diego State graduate has to face more concerning situations, such as impersonators with bad intentions.
Spiranac’s latest scare
In a recent message on X (formerly Twitter), Spiranac published a photo one of her followers sent her. In the image, you can see the golfer herself holding a sign that says, “I love you, Baby. Please don’t try to hurt me, because I promise I will never hurt you.”
In her post, Spiranac reported that one of her followers had received said photo on social media and had immediately forwarded it to her. “This is honestly so scary! They took a screenshot of a video I did a couple years ago holding a head cover and photoshopped a sign in,” the influencer explained.
She advised her followers not to talk to anyone pretending to be her and reminded them that she does not have accounts on any chat apps. “I will only ever respond from my verified social media accounts and my passes account,”Spiranac emphasized.
The golfer concluded her message with an emphatic request to her fans, “Please report and block anyone claiming to be me!”
Paige’s followers’ reactions
The response from Spiranac fans was immediate. “So sorry to see this,” said one. “It’s so sad people trying to impersonate. Good look,” admitted a second, and a third noted, “This is so wild and scary… people can be sick. Stay safe.”
Others took the matter with some humor, pointing out the terrible handwriting in which the photoshopped sign was written. Some indicated they had already received similar messages, while others took advantage of the opportunity to compliment the golfer’s beauty, assuring that “there is only one Paige.”
Although the matter seems to have had no major consequences for Spiranac or her followers, it is still another example of the dark side of fame that celebrities have to deal with every other day.
