Ahead of The Open, golf sensation Paige Spiranac has been giving her fans etiquette lessons – but it’s safe to say some of her followers were left distracted by her latest video
Ahead of The Open getting underway at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club later this week, Paige Spiranac has issued a warning to her American compatriots.
The Royal Liverpool is set to host the 151st Open Championship, with action set to get underway on Merseyside this Thursday. However, the major is often referred to by Americans as ‘The British Open’ so as not to confuse it with the US Open.
But, as The Open is the oldest major tournament, the addition of ‘British’ to its name is pointless. And speaking to her nearly one million Twitter followers, Spiranac made sure to clarify the official name of the major to her fans.
Spiranac said: “Hello everyone and major season in golf is sadly coming to an end with The Open this week and your yearly reminder to say The Open and not the British Open or else you’ll make a golf purists’ mind explode.
“But let’s preview. They’re going to be playing at Royal Liverpool. It is a par 72 playing 7347 yards. Cameron Smith is the defending champion. Some notable winners at Royal Liverpool was Rory McIlroy in 2014 and Tiger Woods in 2006. It is going to be a great week but I want to hear from you, who do you think is going to win? Comment down below.
“I’ll be giving my picks on Wednesday – and just a little reminder, I am on a massive heater right now so you might want to listen to my picks.”
