The €25 million release clause for wingback Denzel Dumfries at Inter Milan is set to expire at the end of today.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They note that the Nerazzurri can breathe a sigh of release after links with Barcelona for the Dutchman.
Inter Milan have had a bit of a nervous wait regarding wingback Denzel Dumfries this month.
The 29-year-old has a release clause in his contract with the Nerazzurri worth €25 million.
And this clause was extended from the fifteenth of July to the end of the month. This being due to the Club World Cup bumping such clauses back.
Denzel Dumfries Release Clause At Inter Expires Today

In the meantime, there have been some developments that have suggested that Dumfries could be on his way.
Most notably, the former PSV wingback switched agents. He took on Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes.
Reportedly, Mendes offered Dumfries to Barcelona in recent weeks.
Had the Blaugranas made an offer of €25 million, Inter could not have rejected it.
However, all that changes today. Evidently, neither Barcelona nor any other club (Manchester City had also been linked) have decided to trigger Dumfries’s release clause.
As the Gazzetta dello Sport note, Inter could still listen to bids for Dumfries over the last month of the transfer window.
However, the Nerazzurri would want far more than €25 million for the Netherlands international.
And if no clubs had taken the opportunity to activate Dumfries’s release clause, it stands to reason that it’s unlikely anyone will try to sign him for far in excess of that amount.
