After Nicole Kidman claimed a viral divorce meme was a scene from a movie, she has been accused of lying. ‘This is not from a movie,’ fans claim.

Fans are questioning Nicole Kidman’s recent claim that the famous meme of her celebrating her successful divorce from Tom Cruise was taken out of context. Nicole responded to the famous photo when speaking to British GQ magazine, telling the magazine that the image was not of her celebrating her 2001 split from Cruise, but rather filming a scene for an untitled movie.

“It’s from a movie, it’s not real life,” she insisted. “I know that image!”

The photo is said to have been taken in 2001 as Nicole was leaving her lawyer’s office after finalising her divorce from Tom Cruise. In the famous photo that went viral, she is seen walking down a sunny sidewalk with her eyes closed and her arms raised in relief.

Kidman said the scenario that people have been thinking and believing for so long is “not true”.

However, what makes Nicole’s denial of the “divorce celebration meme” photo so unconvincing is that she did not say which movie the image was in, leaving social media sleuths to investigate on their own. However, most fans have not found any evidence that Kidman wore a similar outfit – a sheer top and green capri pants – in any of her past films.

One fan on social media X said: “I just did some research on this and she didn’t specify which movie it was from, and none of her fans have any idea what movie it was from. So I feel comfortable concluding that she’s lying and it’s actually a post-divorce paparazzi photo.”

The post has since been viewed more than 1 million times.

“I can’t remember a movie where Nicole was completely bare-faced and didn’t wear a wig?” another replied, while another wrote: “Also, what movie required her to wear sneakers with that outfit?”

“I’ve done some research and given up because none of the movies she was in in 2001 can match this look,” another wrote.

However, Nicole Kidman’s defenders have suggested that the scene may have been from a “deleted scene”.

“You guys are weird, there are so many movies that people make that never get released” – one person responded in Nicole’s defense.

Nicole Kidman married Tom Cruise in 1990 and they split after 11 years of marriage.
