On June 5, 2024, a Facebook page named America’s Last Line of Defense posted a meme positing that nearly all of the Kansas City Chiefs football team signed a petition banning Taylor Swift from their home games next season:
Almost Every Chiefs Player Signed a Petition to Ban Taylor Swift from Home Games Next Season: “She’s Just a Distraction”
The Kansas City Chiefs players have had enough of being second in line to Taylor Swift at their own stadium.
“It’s like we’re not even there half the time. She’s not doing anything to help the team.”
Hopefully, the management will listen. Travis Kelce didn’t sign. Patrick Mahomes did.
As of this writing, the post has amassed more than 10,000 reactions and 3,300 comments. Commenters had a mixed reception to the post, with some questioning whether it was true. One wrote, “I wish they would sign a petition to send her to Siberia,” while another added, “Can’t she just enjoy the game??”
However, this post was not a factual recounting of real-life events. America’s Last Line of Defense describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature, as follows:
Everything on this website is fiction. If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined. Any similarities between this site’s pure fantasy and actual people, places, and events are purely coincidental and all images should be considered altered and satirical.
The Facebook page’s introduction reads: “The flagship of the ALLOD network of trollery. Nothing on this page is real.”
We’ve fact-checked other posts from America’s Last Line of Defense regarding Swift and the Chiefs, including the claim that kicker Harrison Butker was named the team’s captain and the rumor that the singer canceled her tour dates in what she called “racist Florida.”
