On the eve of the recent 2024 Grammy Awards, rock legend Jon Bon Jovi was honored with the “MusiCares Person of the Year” award, for his contributions to music and philanthropy. The award is presented by the MusiCares Foundation of the Recording Institute of America to people who have made achievements in music and philanthropy.
In 2009, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, another member of the rock group Bon Jovi, were also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame Museum in New York, which honors American musicians.
Over the past three decades, John Francis Bongiovi Jr. (born March 2, 1962), leader of the band Bon Jovi, has devoted a lot of his heart to philanthropy, most notably the Jon Bon Jovi Foundation (JBJ) Soul, founded in 2006. The fund is seen as a lifeline for homeless and poor people across the United States.
This is where programs to provide food, shelter, social security, vocational training and other forms of support for the disadvantaged. An important program of the JBJ Soul Foundation, the non-profit restaurant chain JBJ Soul Kitchen, is a place where poor people can eat for free.
During the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic in May 2020, JBJ Soul Kitchen was also an emergency food distribution place for families in need. Last year, Bon Jovi also helped Project HOME build the 1,000th home in Philadelphia for the homeless and needy.
