Fellow NFL player Isaac Rochell is showing that men can be homemakers, too, after Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s divisive commencement speech.
Rochell, who is currently a free agent, posted a day-in-the-life video on May 16 documenting himself caring for his young daughter while doing a series of household chores before his wife Allison Kuch returned from her pilates class.
In the video, captioned “In my homemaker era,” Rochell says, “me and Allie switched roles for the day,” to which his wife responds, “we don’t have roles, we’re equal partners.”
A day earlier, Kuch also posted a TikTok of her own where she directly called out Butker’s statements regarding women solely staying at home and taking care of their children instead of having careers of their own.
“For the past seven years, I have worked my a– off, not only to chase my dreams and be successful, but also to make a name for myself so I’m not just somebody’s wife,” she said.
She ended the video slamming Butker’s homemaker comments, saying “Can you imagine sitting at your college graduation after working your a– off for four years and someone telling you that none of that really mattered? Cause the best thing is gonna be a homemaker?”
Butker’s May 11 commencement speech decried various “diabolical lies told to women” about topics including abortion, the LGTBQ+ community, in vitro fertilization (IVF) and surrogacy, as well as directly criticizing President Joe Biden.

He began his speech mentioning the COVID-19 pandemic and acknowledging that the 2024 graduating class entered into class when it began, saying, “while COVID might have played a large role throughout your formative years, it is not unique.”
As he continued, he also took aim at “bad policies and poor leadership” that he says “have negatively impacted major life issues.” Butker said, “things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as a growing support for degenerative cultural values in media all stem from the pervasiveness of disorder.”
During the 20-minute speech, Butker quoted a lyric written by Taylor Swift, referring to her through her boyfriend Travis Kelce by calling her his “teammate’s girlfriend.”

“As my teammate’s girlfriend says, ‘familiarity breeds contempt,’ ” Butker said. Swift, 34, sings the line in her song, “Bejeweled” on her 2022 album, Midnights.
Isaac Rochell and his wife Allison are the latest in a continuous line of public figures and organizations publicly condemning Butker’s speech — their commentary follows similar sentiments by Maria Shriver, the NFL and former Kansas City commissioner Justice Horn and the nuns of Benedictine College, where the graduation was held.
