Henry Cavill’s Obsession With Guy Ritchie Continues Despite Latest Failure: We Know Almost Nothing about His Upcoming 2025 Thriller

Henry Cavill offers his unwavering support to Guy Ritchie for the upcoming movie, despite their previous collaboration ending in a box office catastrophe.

Henry Cavill’s professional relationship with director Guy Ritchie has been a subject of interest in recent times. Previously collaborating twice, in the 2015’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and 2024’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Cavill and Ritchie met with rather underwhelming performances of their films at the box office, both times.

Therefore, as Henry Cavill entrusts his undying faith in Guy Ritchie, despite the two previous box office disasters, his move sparks curiosity among fans. However, set to reunite with the filmmaker for an upcoming thriller In the Grey, the actor-director duo appear to have concealed their 2025 release in mystery, revealing minimal details about the project.

Henry Cavill Reunites with Guy Ritchie Despite Previous Box Office Failures

Although Guy Ritchie’s latest film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare starring Henry Cavill opened to strong reviews, the movie eventually struggled to make back its budget of $60M. Earning a mere $22M as per ScreenRant, by the end of its four-week run, the 2024 movie failed to impress at the box office, despite turning into a well-reviewed classic.

But that’s not the only collaboration from Guy Ritchie and Henry Cavill that tanked at the box office. According to reports from The Numbers, although their 2015 movie, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., didn’t stumble like their latest project, the movie evidently struggled to earn back its budget.

Making merely 1.4 times its production budget, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. bagged $108M worldwide, against its $75M budget. However, despite the two previous collaborations ending in box office catastrophes, Henry Cavill made headlines for reuniting with Guy Ritchie on his upcoming 2025 project.

However, Henry Cavill isn’t the only actor who is reuniting with the filmmaker. There’s also Jake Gyllenhaal, who is returning to work with Guy Ritchie after their previous collaboration in The Covenant failed to break even at the box office. It seems both Cavill and Gyllenhaal are entrusting their faith in Ritchie for some mysterious reason, despite history warning otherwise.

Henry Cavill and Guy Ritchie Revealed Minimal Details About In the Grey

Meanwhile, Henry Cavill’s loyalty to Guy Ritchie seems admirable, considering the actor-director’s collaborative track records flashing like a warning sign. But while Cavill is returning to collaborate with Ritchie alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, there has been little to no information about their upcoming movie. Giving out minimal details about their project, the stars are seemingly creating hype.

As of now, according to Collider reports, it has been informed that the upcoming movie is titled In the Grey, which is set to hit the theatres on January 17, 2025. The logline of the movie narrates the tale of “a group who operates in the middle of criminality and the law” with Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eiza González joining forces in the search for billions of dollars in stolen cash.

From here onwards the plot details have been carefully tucked under wraps. However, witnessing Henry Cavill’s unwavering support for the director it seems that this project could be classic Guy Ritchie material with a hint of humor and plenty of action. With larger-than-life protagonists on their daring mission to support the filmmaker, In the Grey could finally mark a triumphant return for Cavill and Ritchie
