Previously, Henry Cavill made a surprising return as Superman in the blockbuster Black Adam.

Henry Cavill’s return as Superman in the post-credits scene of the blockbuster Black Adam has kept fans “on edge” for weeks. Many people believe that this will be a new journey, a new era for the Henry Cavill version of Superman in the DC Cinematic Universe (DCU).

However, according to Variety, director and DC CEO James Gunn is writing the script for the new “Superman” movie. However, he revealed that this project will not have the participation of Henry Cavill.

According to close sources, director Gunn has been writing the new script for a while. The plot focuses on the character’s life as a fledgling reporter in the fictional city of Metropolis. Audiences will get a look at the early stages of Superman, including the moment he meets important characters like his colleague Lois Lane.

Henry Cavill bids farewell to the role that made his name – Superman

“The film will focus on the early days of Superman’s life, so this character is not played by Henry Cavill. But we just had a meeting with Henry and discussed some possibilities of working together in the future,” the director shared on social media.

On Instagram, the 39-year-old actor Henry Cavill said he had a meeting with director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran – two new leaders of DC film studio. Accordingly, he will not return to play “Superman” as announced in October. For Henry Cavill, this is not easy but he respects the company’s decision, because “that’s life”.

The actor said: “James and Peter are building their own universe. I wish them and everyone in it the best. To those who have been with me through the years… we can mourn a little, but remember that Superman is still alive. His ideals are still alive. And the image he gave us to follow is still alive. My chance to don the mantle of Superman is gone, but Superman will never be gone. The journey we have been on together has been a very fun and exciting one,” he wrote.

James Gunn and Peter Safran are hatching a plan to completely rebuild the DCU. To do that, they are forced to eliminate old projects and faces. Not long ago, the movie “Wonder Woman” 3 was also “killed”, while Aquaman will not have a new movie after the second part is released at the end of 2023.
