Henry Cavill is set to portray the iconic immortal Connor MacLeod in Amazon MGM’s upcoming Highlander remake, and he will be joined by Karen Gillan. She will portray Cavill’s on-screen love interest, Heather, as per reports. The film also features a star-studded ensemble that includes Russell Crowe and Dave Bautista.

Karen Gillan is set to take a role in Amazon MGM’s highly anticipated Highlander remake, portraying Heather, the mortal wife of Connor MacLeod, played by Henry Cavill. On Instagram, Gillan shared her excitement about the upcoming project. Alongside a picture of THR’s article, she wrote, “My dialect coach can sit this one out…so excited to be an actual Highlander in ‘Highlander’!!!” Fans quickly took to the comment section to express their support. One user commented, “Just watched the OG two nights ago, now this!!!!! Hell yeah.” Another wrote, “So happy I can’t wait for this movie you and My fave Henry.”
Gillan is well-known for her action performances as Nebula in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers films. Her credits also include the Jumanji series and The Life of Chuck.
Cavill headlines the cast, joined by Russell Crowe as the wise swordsman Ramirez and Dave Bautista as the formidable villain, The Kurgan. Marisa Abela also features in a key role, reportedly connected to MacLeod’s past.
Chad Stahelski, known for his work on the John Wick franchise, directs the remake, and Michael Finch penned the screenplay. Meanwhile, the principal photography is expected to begin toward the end of September under Amazon MGM’s United Artists banner. The production team includes Scott Stuber, Nick Nesbitt, Neal H. Moritz, 87Eleven Entertainment, and others.
