Elon Musk angers fans saying homelessness is a ‘lie’ days before becoming the richest man on Earth

The billionaire claimed homelessness is propaganda

It was revealed yesterday (December 11) that the billionaire now has a historic wealth, becoming the first person to have a net worth of a whopping $400 billion.

It has been predicted that the tech mogul will become the world’s first ever trillionaire by around 2027.

However, his comments around homelessness have got him into hot water recently after he became vocal about the issue online.

Taking to his own social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Musk made a controversial post that has since caused quite a stir.

Replying to another user, the original post read: “The SF Chronicle covered what happens when you just give the homeless housing:

“They live in squalor. They fight and kill each other. They die of drug overdoses. They get evicted for failure to follow basic rules. They threaten and abuse staff.”

Musk retweeted this post, adding his own thoughts to it.

The Tesla boss said: “In most cases, the word ‘homeless’ is a lie. It’s usually a propaganda word for violent drug addicts with severe mental illness.”

Speaking to Tucker Carlson in an interview back in October, he claimed: “Homeless is a misnomer. It implies that someone got a little bit behind on their mortgage, and if you just gave them a job, they’d be back on their feet. What you actually have are violent, drug zombies with dead eyes and needles and human feces on the street.”

It’s safe to say that people weren’t best pleased with his tweet, with many users taking to the comment section to share their reactions.

One user wrote: “Not really. The word homeless is describing someone’s financial state and lack of residency. How has that got anything to do with the things you just tried to define homeless people with?

“Very easy to sit from a position of privilege and label those less fortunate. Your lack of self awareness from the place you started shows massively with this sweeping statement.

“You’re a smart man Elon, but this take is moronic as f***.”

Another said: “Sorry, but the world’s richest man should probably sit this one out. We have a lot of veterans who are homeless in this country and it’s not okay.”

And a third person added: “That’s such a harsh view. Everyone has their own story.
