Under the soaring ceilings of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the world witnessed something breathtaking: Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, and Carrie Underwood uniting in a once-in-a-lifetime performance to honor the incomparable Linda Ronstadt. Their weapon of choice? A soul-searing rendition of “When Will I Be Loved,” delivered with such raw emotion and heavenly harmony that even the hardest souls in the room were left trembling.

Carrie Underwood got to take part in the experience of a lifetime last night at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony, when she took the stage to honor inductee Linda Ronstadt and kicked off a 5 song tribute to her that featured what the Associated Press called “some royalty of female country rock.” Carrie sang with Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris, Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, and Glenn Frey of The Eagles (who inducted Ronstadt). HBO will air the highlights from the ceremony in a May 31st broadcast. In the meantime we have video of the performances taken by people inside the venue here. BONUS: Check out video of strong women like Joan Jett, Annie Clark of St. Vincent, and Lorde fulfilling Kurt Cobain’s vision of the future of rock & roll being in the hands of females as they took turns fronting Nirvana in tribute to their induction!
