Cardi B is no longer dwelling on the past.
During an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings on Wednesday, Sept. 17, the rapper said made it clear that she was “so tired” of being associated with her ex Offset.
“I filed for divorce a year ago,” the “Drip” rapper, born Belcalis Almánzar, said. “That should be very clear. I don’t deal with that, I don’t mess with that, I don’t have no contact with that.”
At another point in the conversation, King highlighted lyrics from her new song “Man of Your Word,” which will be featured on her forthcoming album Am I the Drama?
“Seven years I admit, it wasn’t all bad / Skeletons in my closet too / As a wife I should’ve realized you were hurt / But instead I put my music first / But I really do wish you the best / Continue being a winner / If I had one wish / I wish you would’ve been a man of your word,” King recited.
“I just wish he was a better person, but it is what it is,” Cardi responded. “Be a better person for your kids.”
When asked if they would co-parent in the future, Cardi thought about it for a second, and then said “not right now.” Cardi and Offset share three kids together: Daughter Kulture Kiari, 7, son Wave Set, 4, and daughter Blossom Belle, who just turned 1.
“I don’t really have hate in my heart anymore,” she said. “I think he has some type of hate in his heart right now… I don’t know how long that’s gonna take for him but that’s always been my wish.”
“I get along with everybody that I dated. If we all move on, there shouldn’t be no animosity. Your life, my life. Separate. We should be able to raise kids,” she continued. “We should be able to ask each other questions. We should be able to be like, ‘Hey, look what one of the kids just did,’ ‘Look at this,’ ‘Look at the report card.’ We should be able to celebrate but it’s not about the kids. One thing I’m learning is it’s not about the kids.”
Cardi first filed for divorce from Offset in September 2020, but they later reconciled. She then filed for divorce from Offset a second time in July 2024, after confirming their split in December 2023.
Speaking with Billboard earlier this month, Cardi gave a blunt response when asked if she “envision[ed] a lasting friendship with him” after their split.
“I tried,” she responded. “Next question.”
Meanwhile, on Sept. 9, Offset, 33 — who released his latest album Kiari in August — told TMZ that there’s no competition between them.
“I just want all peace, man, for us to win, everybody gotta win. We got kids to take care of, we got to catch the dubs.”

He also said he would “for sure” support Am I the Drama? upon its release on Sept. 19. “That s— hard,” he said. “She’s gonna do her big one, too.”
Also during her CBS Mornings interview, the “I Like It” rapper revealed she was “having a baby with my boyfriend, Stefon Diggs.”
“I’m happy,” she said. “I feel like I’m in a good space. I feel very strong, very powerful that I’m doing all this work — but I’m doing all this work while I’m creating a baby.”
On her relationship with Diggs, a 31-year-old wide receiver for the New England Patriots, she said, “He just makes me feel safe and very confident and very strong.”
Cardi and Diggs have been linked since October 2024.
