Canelo Alvarez was asked about a rumor circulating on the Internet regarding him and Elon Musk. Earlier this week, a viral Facebook post claimed that Alvarez had turned down a $10 million sponsorship from Tesla over Musk’s support of Trump’s ICE immigration raids throughout the United States.

Canelo Alvarez Stands Firm

The champ just turned down a $10m deal to promote Tesla at his next fight! Canelo called out Elon Musk: With all your money, I will NEVER promote your Teslas. It’s because of rich men like you my Mexican people are targeted like animals. I won’t back a brand that profits on anti-Mexican racism.

Canelo is not for sale! His heart is with his people.

While it’s unclear where the rumor originated, a reporter in Las Vegas asked Alvarez about it during the Canelo-Crawford press conference.

Unfortunately, Canelo immediately shot down the question and refused to answer it.

“I don’t want to talk about that buddy, we’re talking about fights, but I always support my people.”

Alvarez recently reacted to the ICE raids by saying immigrants if it’s worth living in the United States in a constant state of fear.

“I think people need to ask themselves if it’s worth staying here, living in fear, not going outside, being fugitives in the eyes of the law. Is it worth staying – or is it better to return home?”
