On November 7, at the MTV Europe Music Awards held in Madrid (Spain), the rock band Bon Jovi will officially receive the “Global Idol” award.
Bon Jovi consists of 5 members: lead vocalist Jon Bon Jovi, lead guitarist Richie Sambora, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres and bassist Hugh McDonald.
The group was founded in 1983, and named after lead singer Jon Bon Jovi, the group achieved great success in the 1980s. With the success of many albums, the group’s songs continuously ranked high on the world music charts, Bon Jovi quickly became an international music star.
After 25 years of operation, Bon Jovi has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, of which 34 million copies were sold in the US. The band has also received multiple Grammy nominations for their albums Crush, Bounce, and Lost Highway. They have also released ten studio albums, nine of which have been certified platinum. In addition, Bon Jovi has had 19 Top 40 singles on the Billboard charts. The band also holds the record for the most weeks for a hard rock album on the Billboard 200 with Slippery When Wet, as well as the most Top 10 hard rock singles from an album, with New Jersey, holding the record for five weeks.
