Beyonce breaks yet another music record as she makes history as the first black artist to take a country album to number 1 in the UK

She’s breaking records and making history with her first ever country album.

And Beyonce has just broken yet another record by scoring a historic UK Official Chart Double on Friday.

The Texas-born star has officially become the first black artist to reach number 1 in the UK with a country album, as well as hitting number 1 on the singles chart with Texas Hold ‘Em.

Having both of the two top spots side by side with a country music album has made music history in the UK.

Her latest album, Cowboy Carter, broke a record that even country music legend Dolly Parton, 78, has not broken.

Over twenty years ago in 2003 the mother-of-three secured the top spots with her debut solo album, Dangerously In Love, and the iconic Crazy In Love singe.

Beyonce has hit a career best with three of her tracks from Cowboy Carter hitting the charts, the now TikTok famous hit Texas Hold ‘Em is joined by Jolene and Most Wanted, featuring Miley Cyrus.

The CEO of Official Charts, Martin Talbot, sang Beyonce’s praises as he said: ‘In a career of huge achievements, congratulations to Beyonce on securing a slew of UK chart records with her country single and album this week, underlining her position as one of the world’s most ground-breaking musical artists.’

‘With Texas Hold ‘Em and Cowboy Carter, she this week becomes the first artist to top the Official Singles Chart and Official Albums Chart with country repertoire simultaneously, and the first black artist ever to take a country album to Number 1 in the UK. Step aside (for now) Dolly, Bey is the *current* Queen of country.’

Last week,  Beyonce shared her thoughts on the new album.

‘The joy of creating music is that there are no rules,’ said Beyonce. ‘The more I see the world evolving the more I felt a deeper connection to purity.’

The mother of three added that with artificial intelligence and digital filters and programming she ‘wanted to go back to real instruments, and I used very old ones.

The star ended with: ‘All the sounds were so organic and human, everyday things like the wind, snaps and even the sound of birds and chickens, the sounds of nature,’ she said.

Some of the films that lent inspiration include The Hateful Eight, Space Cowboys, The Harder They Fall, and the recent Oscar-nominated movie Killers of the Flower Moon.

The album is considered ‘a declarative frequency and academic shift, as the world prepares to shift again, that redefines and rebuilds what is Country and Americana, and who gets to be included.’

Beyoncé’s eighth studio album landed across nine different genres on US music charts including Pop, Hot AC, Country, Rhythmic, Urban, and R&B, and making history with Beyoncé becoming the first Black female artist to reach No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and No. 1 on the Hot 100 Chart with a Country song.

It also spent four weeks at the top of the UK music charts.
