Taking to the stage, Asif continued: “We really fell in love with her when making the film.
“And our aim and mission was really to try and tell the truth about her.
“To show the world what an amazing person she was, how intelligent, how witty, how beautiful she was, before it all kind of got out of control and went a bit crazy.”
The movie was also named the winner in categories for sound and cinematography, making it a very successful night for the Oscars favourite.
Mad Max: Fury Road also had a strong showing at the Royal Opera House on Sunday night, with nods in four categories, including make up and hair, costume design, production design and editing.
In the supporting actor and actress categories, it was Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies) and Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs) taking home the trophies.
