NEVER-before-seen photographs of Amy Winehouse taken before she was catapulted into the global spotlight are set to go on show in London.

The jazz icon looks virtually unrecognisable in the candid snaps, which show her listening to a vintage radio in the street, strumming on her pastel blue guitar and posing on the floor in a low-cut shirt.

Photographer Phil Knott worked with Amy “in her prime” before the drug and alcohol addictions she later battled took hold.

Speaking about the stunning unseen pictures, he said: “This was the funny, healthy and remarkable Amy that I remembered, and captured in those early years.

“When I unearthed this box of photos, after moving to LA, I was moved by how full of hope, beauty and shy innocence they were.”

Amy wears her raven-coloured locks loose and tousled in the shoot – a far cry from the signature towering beehive she later became famous for.

The images, including a monochrome shot of her perching barefoot on a stool and another leaning against a pink wall in a denim shirt, also show the star before she got an array of inkings.

Phil, who has photographed stars including Liam Gallagher, Justin Timberlake and Chris Martin, first worked with the Valerie singer in 2003 on promotional campaign for her debut album, Frank.

He continued to shoot her during the early years and was “touched” by how “charmingly unaware she was of the massive talent and presence she’d been gifted”.

Amy openly suffered with drug addiction and mental health issues before she tragically died aged 27.

The snaps will go on display at Zebra One Gallery in London on September 13 – the day before what would have been Amy’s birthday.

Profits raised will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which was set up in her memory to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol misuse in young people and to help them reach their full potential.
