Amy Winehouse’s family have been reportedly left feeling “betrayed” after the singer’s best friend released a tell-all book about their time together.

The singer’s family had been planning to mark the tenth anniversary of her tragic death aged 27 in 2011 with a documentary.

Yet, it has been reported that Amy’s close friend Tyler James, who first met the singer at theatre school when they were 12, has upset the family with his version of events in his book.

His book, My Amy: The Life We Shared, was published last week and detailed how Sheridan Smith helped save Amy’s life two years before she died.

But her family have been left particularly upset after believing that Tyler would be the one person who wouldn’t try to cash in on her fame.

A source told the publication: “Tyler had been close since his early teens and they considered him one of their own. But they weren’t told or ­consulted about this book.”

They continued that Mitch and Janis were particularly upset that Tyler had claimed to be the only friend who hadn’t been paid to be with Amy towards the end of her life and that he had missed out on mentioning her other friends, as well as fiancé Reg Traviss.

The insider added: “After all the financial support that Amy and her family gave Tyler, to hear these claims from him has left a bad taste in the mouth.”

The family have also reportedly been left upset over how Amy has been portrayed within the book and his claim that he was the only person trying to help her battle her demons.

“Key ­people in her life have just been left out. Tyler paints ­himself as the only one trying to help Amy while others exploited her,” they continued.

A spokesperson told the publication: “Amy’s parents are disappointed that Tyler has gone ahead with this book without consulting them, and dispute many of his claims.”
