Last week, rapper Snoop Dogg brazenly admitted that he was left “scared” to go to the movies after his grandson had questions about a same-sex couple in Disney’s 2022 film Lightyear. Needless to say, people were not pleased with Snoop’s comments. And amid the backlash, people began resurfacing some very apt past comments from Chris Evans, who voices the main character in Lightyear.

“What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere,” Snoop said on the It’s Giving podcast about LGBTQ+ representation in the media.

Referring to Lightyear, he continued, “They’re like, ‘She had a baby with another woman.’ Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!’”

Snoop recalled thinking, “Oh shit, I didn’t come in for this shit! I just came to watch the goddamn movie,” before adding, “I’m scared to go to the movies now! Like, y’all throwing me in the middle of shit that I don’t have an answer for!”

Snoop also questioned the need to show kids such content at a young age, arguing that, “They’re going to ask questions.” Sigh.

Needless to say, people were not pleased with Snoop’s remarks. And amid the backlash, people began resurfacing some very apt past comments from Chris Evans, who voices the main character in Lightyear.

Back in 2022, Chris called anti-gay viewers of the film “idiots” who are going to “die off like dinosaurs.” He said, “The real truth is those people are idiots… There’s always going to be people who are afraid and unaware and trying to hold on to what was before.”
