A new poll shows that Americans have a more favorable view of Donald Trump than Taylor Swift. However, the pop superstar has a lower negative rating than the former US President.
On September 20, the results of a nationwide survey on the popularity of the 2024 US presidential candidates and Taylor Swift were released. The poll was conducted by the New York Times and the private school Siena College from September 11 to 16, after the pop superstar publicly endorsed Kamala Harris and condemned Donald Trump.

Interestingly, more Americans have a favorable view of Mr. Trump than Taylor. Specifically, the 78-year-old billionaire won 47% of the support rate, while the blonde beauty only got 42%. Ms. Harris also surpassed Taylor, with 48% of positive ratings.
However, both the Republican and Democratic candidates had higher negative ratings than the Anti-hero hitmaker.
Mr. Trump was rated negatively by 50% of respondents and Ms. Harris at 48% – reflecting the deep polarization of voters, with few people having a neutral view of the candidates.
In contrast, those who dislike Taylor only accounted for 34% of the total respondents, and 22% had no opinion.
In addition, 70% of positive votes for Taylor came from the Democratic Party, 41% were independent voters, and 23% were Republicans.
Although not involved in politics, Taylor Swift is considered a factor that can change the results of the 2024 US Presidential election.
At the beginning of the year, a Newsweek poll conducted by the British market research company Redfield & Wilton Strategies showed that 18% of American voters (out of 1,500 respondents) were likely to vote for Taylor Swift’s favorite US Presidential candidate.
The above number may be much higher in reality, as Taylor is currently the most famous singer in the world, with 284 million followers on Instagram. Every time the beauty calls on fans to vote, the official website of the US Presidential election records a spike in traffic.

In September, Taylor Swift decided to break her months-long silence to express her political stance. She announced that she would vote for Ms. Harris, and criticized Mr. Trump for using a fake photo of her to call for public support.
This move angered the former US President, as shown by his constant targeting of the female singer.
First, he warned Taylor that she “could pay the price”. Then, he challenged the singer born in 1989 by imitating The Eras Tour shirt. Mr. Trump also posted the message “I hate Taylor Swift” on social media.
Despite Mr. Trump’s actions, Taylor Swift returned to silence. She appears to not pay much attention to politics, instead spending a lot of time watching her boyfriend Travis Kelce play football.
