Ahead of Mother’s Day, John Legend Shared What It Really Means to Be a Supportive Husband and Father
“We’ve got to be as present and available as possible to help with whatever needs to be done,” the singer said in a recent interview.
John Legend is known worldwide for his work in the music industry and beyond, but he is most proud to be a husband to Chrissy Teigen and the father of her children. In a recent interview, he opened up about what it truly takes to be the best-possible support system to his spouse and littles ones, Luna and Miles—and how other patriarchs can do the same, particularly after their wives welcome a child into the world.

“As a husband, I feel like one, it’s very difficult right after delivery for a woman,” John told E! News. “As a husband, we’ve got to be reliable. We’ve got to be a rock. We’ve got to be there for our wives. We’ve got to be as present and available as possible to help with whatever needs to be done.” (His advice is particularly salient just ahead of Mother’s Day.)
John told Good Morning America back in November that through thick and thin, he will always be right by Chrissy’s side. “I just know that I love my wife more than ever,” the singer said. “We’ve been through so many challenges together and they’ve made her stronger, and I know that doesn’t always happen when people go through tragedy.”
In the face of hardship, John added that he and Chrissy will always find a way to grow with one another: “I feel like the challenges we face together have made us feel even more sure about who we are together as a couple, and who we are as a family.”
