John Legend Did a Spontaneous Duet of “All of Me” With a Contestant During the Blinds
Mara Justine’s Blind Audition became an impromptu performance with John Legend!
The Season 24 premiere of The Voice ended in a musical entanglement between Contestant Mara Justine and Coaches John Legend and Niall Horan.
Justine wowed the Coaches with a powerful rendition of Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” earning her a Four-Chair Turn before she even hit the chorus. Not only that, but Justine’s universally-beloved Blind Audition also triggered a battle between all four Coaches. While Gwen Stefani came out early, only half a second behind Legend in a near-instantaneous Chair Turn, both she and Reba McEntire were outmaneuvered in the bidding war by the guys.
Legend and Horan came out swinging. Horan resorted to a bit of off-screen assistance from former Coach Blake Shelton in the form of a giant finger. But Legend used the most epic tactic of them all.

Unwilling to be outdone, Legend joined Horan and Justine on stage under the pretense of finding out what Horan is up to, before asking a simple but loaded question. “Have you ever sung one of my songs before?”
“Of course,” Justine responded before Horan cut in, “But you don’t wanna do it now, right?” Ignoring Horan, Legend continued, “Do you want to sing a song together? That would be fun.”
Who’s going to say no to that?
The piano gently trickled in and Legend kicked off a live performance of his hit song “All of Me.” Justin jumped in confidently, matching Legend note for note.
For a moment, it seemed as though Horan accepted his defeat, falling to the ground in apparent surrender. But no, having clearly been outmatched, Horan ditched all pretense and simply pleaded “pick me.”
Will that be enough to win her over to Horan’s side? Or will Legend’s musical machinations win the day? Find out on The Voice, airing Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
