LeBron James Shares Classy Reaction to NBA-Record 20th All-Star Selection
The NBA announced the starting lineups for the 2024 All-Star Game on Thursday, headlined by the selection of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James to the midseason showcase for the 20th time in his career.
With that honor, the 39-year-old James surpassed another Lakers great, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, for the most All-Star selections in NBA history. James has been elected as an All-Star starter for 20 consecutive seasons and will serve as captain of the Western Conference team.

Following the Lakers’ 141–132 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday, James told reporters he was humbled by the achievement.
“I’ve exceeded expectations of my career,” James told reporters. “It’s just humbling. It’s very cool to be able to continue to have accomplishments throughout your career.”
“But I’ve exceeded anything further than what I ever dreamed about being in the NBA,” James added. “And I did that a long time ago. Everything else is just kind of extra credit. I’m very humbled by still being able to play the game I love and have these accomplishments along the way.”
James’s selection isn’t just a courtesy nod to a great career. He’s still playing at a high level, averaging 24.8 points, 7.5 assists and 7.1 rebounds per game in his 21st NBA season.
The 2024 NBA All-Star Game will be played Feb. 18 in Indianapolis.
