Atletico 1-1 Real Madrid: Los Blancos’ Player Ratings as Militao scores and the teams share the spoils in ill-tempered derby | La Liga 2024-25
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid played out a tense 1-1 draw at the Civitas Metropolitano in La Liga on Sunday, September 29. The two teams maintain their positions in the table at second and third, respectively.
Aurelien Tchouameni did manage a tame effort from the resultant corner, but their best chance came just after the half hour mark. Jude Bellingham’s shot from outside the box saw Oblak making a full-stretch save to keep the scores level. Atletico Madrid were arguably spared their blushes on the cusp of half-time as Rodrygo had a penalty appeal waived for Real Madrid.
The two sides were deadlocked at 0-0 at the break.
The second half began in Real Madrid’s favour and Rodrygo had a decent early chance as his powerful effort kissed the top of the crossbar. Shortly after, Robin Le Normand brought Vinicius Junior down a few yards outside the box and was booked. Luka Modrid took the resultant corner and passed it to Vinicius, whose cross beat everyone and reached Eder Militao at the far post.
The Brazilian defender took a touch before smashing the ball into the net to make it 1-0 to Real Madrid after 63 minutes. There was a significant stoppage in the match in the aftermath of the goal, with Atletico Madrid in the spotlight for poor behaviour. However, play resumed after around seven minutes of stoppage after multiple warnings.
Both Diego Simeone and Carlo Ancelotti made mutliple changes as the game slowly meandered towards eight added minutes. However, Atletico found a way back with their backs against the wall deep into stoppage time.
Two substitutes combined as Javi Galan’s pass found Angel Correa, who scored to make it 1-1 in the 96th minute. Marcos Llorente’s initial yellow card was then reviewed and he was sent off in the last action of a Madrid derby threatening to boil over.
The two teams shared the spoils at 1-1, and on that note, let’s take a look at Los Blancos’ player ratings.
