His childhood
Elon is 48 years old and is originally from South Africa.
When Elon was a child, his parents thought he was deaf because he was lost in thought. Now his mother thinks he might have been designing rockets or something in his head.
Elon was bullied as a child. His classmates beat him up and caused him to have a deviated septum. In 2013, he had to undergo surgery because he had back pain and had difficulty breathing.
His mother recounted in Vance’s book that Elon had no friends and was a lonely child, but he learned martial arts and that gave him confidence.
His parents divorced when he was 10. He first went to live with his mother, but then moved in with his father in South Africa because he seemed lonely and sad.
He designed a video game at 12
In 1984, when he was 12, he designed and sold a video game called “Blastar and Musk” for $500.
He organized parties to pay for his studies
Musk earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and another in physics at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States.
To pay for his studies, he organized parties at his house and charged $5 for admission.
When he was young, Elon would repair his car with scrap metal from a yard because he had no money.
In 1995, Musk enrolled in a postgraduate course in Physics at Stanford University, but dropped out after two days because he thought the Internet was more promising and founded the company Zip2.
