While Ritchson currently bears one of the most impressive physiques in Hollywood, he is also renowned for leaning into his vulnerabilities and has been pretty outspoken about his journey with mental health struggles. Considering he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 36, the actor has had challenges in both his professional and personal lives. While it never resulted in any violent outbursts, his manic episodes did once impact the Reacher‘s production.

But one thing that makes him stand out is that Alan Ritchson has been pretty vocal about sharing his manic and depressing experiences with the audience. From being s-xually assaulted during his modeling days to his failed attempt at suicide, the actor has gravitated towards speaking of these instances at length. Speaking of the actor, the head of Amazon and MGM studios’, Jennifer Salke, commended the Fast X star for sharing his vulnerable side with others, which isn’t easy for anyone, irrespective of their stature.

What makes him unique is that he is very brave and open in talking about mental health. He’s a modern leading man in that sense, and he comes to it all so honestly, through life experience. Though it’s been tough for him, he will share his story with anybody

Considering how challenging it can be for us to open up about our vulnerabilities, the Reacher star’s approach stands as a inspiration, which continues to encourage others to tackle their mental health struggles.

While Ritchson’s Hollywood career continues to grow, with the actor now becoming the fan-favorite to become DCU’s Batman, he isn’t leaving the role that shot him to prominence anytime soon. With Reacher season 3 slated to premiere on early 2025, Salke revealed that they aren’t parting ways with him anytime soon, stressing the Fast X star can continue to play Reacher as long as he wishes.

Considering that the actor owes his career to this stint, Ritchson reassured fans that he’ll continue to explore more of Lee Child‘s books. Apart from excelling onscreen, the actor has also jumped to YouTube to share more of his struggling ventures over the years, which has kept on pushing others with similar issues to find solace and tackle their own issues.

Reacher is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
