Henry Cavill has expressed his disinterest in sєх scenes. In a conversation on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast alongside “Argylle” director Matthew Vaughn, he mentioned that television series or movies often fare better when they omit sєх scenes, allowing viewers’ imaginations to take over, which he believes is much more potent.
“I don’t get them – I’m not keen on them,” Cavill remarked regarding sєх scenes. “There are times when a sєх scene can be advantageous to a film, and not just for the audience, but I feel they are sometimes overutilized nowadays.”
“You reach a point where you question, ‘Is this truly necessary, or is it merely about less attire?'” he added. “That’s when it becomes more uncomfortable, and you think, ‘This isn’t contributing to the performance. It’s not an element that will resonate throughout the rest of the film.'”
Cavill explained that while there are times where “sєх scenes can be great in a movie” and “can really help with the storytelling … Most of the time the human imagination is going to trump it. So, it can be a little bit of a cop-out if a TV show or a movie is just filled with gyrating bodies and you’re going, ‘Okay, but what is this doing for us apart from the idea of, “Oh naked person, great.”‘”
“[I’m] not a fan of doing them,” he reiterated.
Fortunately for Cavill, he does not have any sєх scenes in Vaughn’s “Argylle.” The action movie casts the “Man of Steel” veteran as the eponymous spy, who is actually the lead character in a popular book series written by a reclusive author (Bryce Dallas Howard). The film follows the author as she’s throw into a real espionage adventure after one of her books exposes the real secrets of a global crime syndicate.
