In a television interview from a few years ago, the actress shared her challenges facing societal norms with her son: “He’s a really talented kid, but he’s only 6 years old. He really likes fashion and loves to wear dresses. I put my son into a really liberal hippie school. But even there they’re telling him: ‘Boys don’t wear pink’, ‘Dresses are not for boys’… So we’re going through that now and I’m teaching him to be confident no matter what anyone says.”

Megan Fox, despite her openness about gender issues, is strict when it comes to parenting. In an interview with Parent magazine, she surprised many by revealing that she doesn’t allow her children to watch TV or play with iPads:

“I do let them watch movies, but there’s a difference between television and movies. Movies have a beginning, a middle and an end. But with television, it’s constant. It’s just nonstop stimulus. They can’t really get into a movie, because they’re so overwhelmed by the flashing images. I think it’s really bad for their brain.”

Megan Fox shared in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, April issue, that despite being strict, she wants to raise her children with love: “I don’t think I need to discipline my kids with harsh words or with punitive measures. I believe that if I love them correctly, I don’t need to do those things. I’m a free-spirit mother.”

“I don’t talk to Bodhi like he’s an adult, but I listen to everything Bodhi says to me and I trust him,” continued the 28-year-old actress. “I believe that Bodhi sees things that I don’t see. I also believe that Bodhi has things to teach me and because of that, I don’t act like a disciplinary person or an authoritarian.”

“I don’t want to impose force on him,” Megan Fox explained. “I want to be an open and peaceful mother. I want Bodhi to be inspired by me because he has consistently inspired me.”
