Charli XCX reveals Cardi B called her Charli STD on Twitter: ‘I felt honored’ | HO

Charli XCX said she was ‘honored’ after Cardi B mistakenly called her Charli STD on Twitter.

The Boom Clap singer, 29, revealed on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon that Cardi accidentally tagged her as ‘Charli STD’ after tweeting about their 2018 song Girls.

‘We did a song together with Rita Ora and Bebe Rexha, and it was one of those scenarios where we never met when we made the song, and we shot the music video separately, and we were sending verses and whatever, and then she tweets the song and I’m like, “Oh my god Cardi B tweeted my name, this is huge!” And then I check the tag, and instead of “Charli XCX” it’s “Charli STD,”‘ Charli explained on the show.

Fallon found the admission to be particularly funny, and he noted that the new name was both ‘close enough’ and ‘not that far off’ from the original.

Charli also remarked that the incident was not the only time that the I Like It rapper had written out her stage name incorrectly.

‘There is an account called Charli STD which, I think Cardi tagged it not once, but twice,’ she said.

The singer took the misnomer in stride, and stated that the rapper’s mistake was humorous enough for her to look at the situation in a positive light.

‘You know, I felt honored actually. If anyone is gonna make this kind of online error, it’s got to be Cardi because it’s iconic. And I’m almost happy it happened,’ she said.

Charli concluded by stating that the rapper ‘can call me Charli STD whenever she wants.’

The singer reposted a clip from the episode to her Instagram account on Saturday, and she wrote a short message in her post’s caption that partially read: ‘Charli std reporting for duty.’
