Cardi B Opens Up On Why She Never Hired A Nanny For Kulture and Wave – HO
Cardi B opened up about why she has never hired a nanny to care for her daughter Kulture.
The I Like It artist, 29, in a chat with Vogue Singapore Monday, said that she initially felt she would employ a nanny to care for her daughter.
‘There weren’t a lot of artists out there who had babies at the beginning of their career,’ Cardi B said. ‘I didn’t have an album out when I found out I was pregnant.
‘Everybody was so nervous for my career and future, but I kept telling them, “It’s easy. Trust me, I’m going to have a nanny and she’s going to travel up and down with me. It’s not even going to be a hassle.”‘
The New York native, whose full name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, said that she had a drastic change of heart when she gave birth to her first child in July of 2018.
‘When the baby got here, I couldn’t even think about getting a nanny because I was afraid of anybody being around her besides my family,’ she said. ‘I’ve never had a nanny for Kulture.’
The Bodak Yellow artist said that she has tried not to rely on her family too much for child care.
‘Your parents have already lived their life and raised their kids.
They are older and don’t have the same energy as someone in their 20s,’ she said. ‘I’m never far from my kids because that’s my responsibility as a mother.’
The singer said she has ‘compassion for good mothers who get up and hustle and work, or even not work – having kids is work. Raising a kid is work.’
In the interview, the Up performer said that she’s been through a ‘very stressful’ period as both Kulture and her son Wave Set, 10 months, had been ill: ‘I’ve been up all night and all day with my baby for the past two days – but what can you do, you know?’
