HO – DIDDY MAKES A STATEMENT: I HAD TO ASK GOD FOR HIS MERCY & GRACE – Inside Diddy’s public takedown as employees latest to take aim at criticised apology

Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs recently broke his silence after CCTV footage from 2016 saw him allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, with the fallout from the saga now apparent.

Cassie came forward with allegations against the rapper in November 2023, but the pair settled the lawsuit out of court rather swiftly. According to court documents obtained by The Mirror, fellow musician Cassie alleged that “he raped her and perpetually abused her for years.”

And then last week, CCTV footage from 2016 made its way into the public, which seemingly proved some of Cassie’s claims and allegations against her ex. In the footage, Cassie can be seen getting thrown to the ground by the rapper.

In the footage, Diddy is then seen kicking his then-girlfriend twice. He could also be seen picking up some luggage that was by the elevator before dragging her by a sweatshirt towards a room.

After Cassie stands up, the shocking footage shows – through a mirror – that Diddy appears to shove her. He is then seen sitting in a chair with only a towel around his body before throwing something at Cassie.

But despite expressing his sorrow and how “truly sorry” he is, Diddy has still received a massive amount of backlash. One person commented on his apology video: “Not accepted you are just doing it because you got caught, I am so sorry for your children particularly your daughters that love you.” Another shared: “You’re full of c*** diddy.” A third wrote: “Why are you apologising to us? Where’s your apology to Cassie?.”

“You know this apology would have been acceptable if he did it after the incident or maybe you know when the allegations were thrown at him but to do it after the video has been shown you’re not getting any pity like you’re only doing that because you got caught,” said a fifth.

On Sunday, Cassie’s attorney Meredith Firetog said: “‘Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt. When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday.”

She continued: “That he was only compelled to ‘apologise’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.'”

Not only have the public and Cassie’s lawyer slammed Diddy, but people and companies linked to the rapper have spoken out too. The employees of Revolt, the media company cofounded by the rapper, reacted to the apology video soon after it surfaced.

“We are deeply saddened and disturbed by the recent video circulation of our former chairman, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs,” they began in a post on Instagram.

They went on: “Even with his recent separation from REVOLT, it is still our duty to address this matter, and recognise the direct impact it has on our staff, our audience, and the culture we represent.”

Resharing the footage of the incident to his X account, fellow rapper 50 Cent – real name Curtis Jackson – also weighed in. He penned: “Now I’m sure puffy didn’t do it, he is innocent this proves nothing! This is what his lawyers are gonna say, God help us all.”

50 Cent then later added: “The lie detector test has determined this was a lie…”

In the full apology clip issued by Diddy on Sunday, he tells fans: “So difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, sometimes you got to do that. I was f***ed up. I mean I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses, my behaviour in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video, disgusting.

“I was disgusted then when I did it, I am disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help, I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. Asked God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I am committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness, I’m truly sorry.”
