Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, Elma Aveiro, has hit out at Antonio Cassano for his comments on the Portuguese star. She claimed that the former Italian forward has no clue how to score 900 goals, while her brother has done it.

Taking to Instagram, Aveiro hit out at Cassano and claimed that he was just a ball boy and never a footballer. Ronaldo’s sister added she has no clue who Cassano is and wrote:

“One wakes up to these things. I don’t know this poor guy. It doesn’t matter, but just one thing for him, he doesn’t know how to score 900 goals. Imagine if he did. They say he was a footballer. I think they’re wrong, he was certainly a ball boy.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored over 900 goals for club and country since making his senior debut. The Portuguese legend achieved the feat in a recent Nations League appearance for his country against Croatia.

What did Antonio Cassano say about Cristiano Ronaldo?

Antonio Cassano was on the Viva El Futbol podcast and claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo does not know how to play football. He claimed Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Aguero, Luis Suarez, and Zlatan Ibrahimović are better strikers than Ronaldo because of their all-round play. He said (via GOAL):

“Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t know how to play football. He could score 3000 goals, I don’t give a f*ck. [Gonzalo] Higuain, [Sergio] Aguero, [Karim] Benzema, [Robert] Lewandowski, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and [Luis] Suarez knew how to link-up with the team. They knew how to do a lot of things, unlike Ronaldo whose only objective has always been to score.”

Back in 2022, Cassano stated that Ronaldo should retire when he was relegated to the bench at Manchester United. He said (via GOAL):

“A guy like Cristiano has to think about himself and if you can’t do it anymore then you have to call it a day. It’s a rule in all sports. Retire, that’s enough! He has won everything, he has been a phenomenon, he has earned a lot of money and now he is not a starter at Manchester United.”

Ronaldo turned 39 this year and has no plans to retire just yet. He has stated that he wants to continue playing as long as his body keeps going.
