Harrison Butker’s mother’s job has been receiving considerable attention in the wake of his controversial comments earlier this week.

The Kansas City Chiefs kicker gave a graduation speech at a ceremony in Kansas, in which he urged men to reclaim their masculinity and encouraged women to embrace their roles as “homemakers.”

Butker intimated that women have been falsely led to believe they should be part of the workforce.

“How many of you are sitting here now, about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career?” he asked the graduates.

“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”

He noted that his wife Isabella would be “the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother,” adding that “homemaker” is one of the most important titles a woman can boast.
