John Legend Jokingly Reveals Real Reason He Created Children’s Album — and Wife Chrissy Teigen Teases She’s ‘Leaving’
The musician shares daughters Luna, 8, and Esti, 19 months, and sons Miles, 6, and Wren, 14 months, with wife Chrissy Teigen
On Wednesday, Sept. 4, the musician, 45, shared a hilarious Instagram Reel, joking about the perks of creating his new children’s album with his daughters in mind. While Legend previously shared that “Favorite Dream” is “completely inspired by” his wife Chrissy Teigen and their four kids — daughters Luna, 8, and Esti, 19 months, and sons Miles, 6, and Wren, 14 months — the “All of Me” singer joked the real reason he recorded an album for his little girls.
“Recorded an entire album for my baby girl so she won’t be impressed by your son playing a G chord on guitar,” Legend wrote over a video of himself picking up Esti and kissing her on the cheek before intensely glaring into the camera.
He captioned the Reel, “Dad mode activated.”
Teigen, 38, was just as entertained by the video, dropping a silly message in the comments.
“U really did this trend oh my god,” she wrote in the comment section, joking, “I’m leaving. u can have custody.”
The singer recently chatted with PEOPLE for this week’s issue, admitting that three out of four of the couple’s kids would probably choose the Cravings cookbook author as their favorite parent.
“Chrissy’s everyone’s favorite I think, except I might have Esti,” the proud dad told PEOPLE.

He continued, “I think because she’s at this space where she sees me leave now, and when I come back home, she’s super clingy and she literally just wants to hug my leg and make sure I don’t leave her.”
“So I think because I leave more, she’s more attached to me when I come home,” he said, teasing, “I have one out of four.”
But, he said, even little Esti can’t charm her way into her parents’ bedroom these days. “I started locking the door,” Legend shared of recently putting up boundaries with his brood. “Their big thing is they want to knock on our door and come sleep with us. I’m like, ‘Y’all are not coming in our bed every time you have a little disturbance. Go back to sleep.'”
