In a huge boost for Real Madrid, Eder Militao has returned to training after picking up a knock while on international duty, as per acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Brazilian has been a first-team regular in recent seasons for Los Blancos and remains one of Carlo Ancelotti’s most important players.

Militao joined his national team last week for the World Cup Qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay. However, the Brazil FA announced on Thursday that the player had picked up a muscle injury in his right thigh during training.

The player subsequently returned to the Santiago Bernabeu to work on his fitness. The La Liga giants were understandably concerned given the 26-year-old’s recent injury woes.

Militao endured a difficult 2023/24 season after picking up an ACL injury during the first game of the campaign. The 25-year-old spent many months on the sidelines and only returned to action in April this year.

Militao finished the campaign with just 13 appearances for Real Madrid across competitions. However, he has been back to his best this season, playing every minute of every game for the La Liga giants so far.

The latest news will certainly be a big boost to Los Blancos’ plans for the season. With David Alaba unlikely to return from injury until the end of the season, Real Madrid will be desperate for Militao to stay fit.

Should Real Madrid have signed Leny Yoro this summer?

Real Madrid had the option to sign Leny Yoro from Lille this summer but refused to match the club’s asking price. The French defender is a rising star in the European circuit and could have been a fantastic partner for Eder Militao.

With Nacho Fernandez leaving the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of last season, Los Blancos were in the market for a new defender. Yoro had entered the final year of his contract and was apparently eager to join the La Liga giants.

However, Real Madrid refused to break the bank for the 18-year-old. Their plan ultimately backfired, with Manchester United taking advantage of the situation and prising him away.

With Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba already on the wrong side of 30, perhaps Los Blancos would have been better advised to invest in Yoro. While they may live to rue that decision, for now, the club will be relieved that Militao is back fit. The 26-year-old is likely to be available when the Spanish champions take on Real Sociedad on Saturday in La Liga.
