Usually, I cover YouTubers, TikTokers, and internet influencers. But I’ve been browsing TikTok and the memes about people’s experiences with Jennifer Lopez, or JLo, have been hilarious. If you don’t know who I’m talking about, she’s the famous singer and actress, Jenny from the Block.

In the early 2000s, JLo was at her peak. Now, many people who worked for her, like nannies and servers, are coming forward, sharing how difficult she was. She doesn’t treat people well, especially those she considers beneath her.

JLo released a new movie recently, reminiscent of Beyoncé’s “Lemonade,” but it’s been panned by critics. Reviews describe it as a convoluted mess, a mythical story that feels like a JLo music video no one asked for. Even her husband, Ben Affleck, a big-time movie director, wasn’t supportive. The movie has terrible reviews and ratings, with no one liking it. She’s also had to cancel some tour dates and is now promoting her Greatest Hits instead of new material.

Interestingly, people have pointed out that JLo doesn’t even sing many of her own songs. When she talked about her go-to order at the bodega, it was so plain and generic that TikTok users mocked her relentlessly. She claimed to be connected to the Bronx community, but her actions tell a different story.

For instance, a TikTok user shared a story about being JLo’s assistant and how poorly she was treated. JLo thought assistants should be paid no more than $55,000 a year, far less than what other wealthy employers pay. Another TikTok revealed that at a dinner party, staff were instructed not to address or even look at JLo. There are numerous stories of her being rude to servers and staff, like dismissing a waitress who approached her table.

JLo’s disdain for ordinary people is evident, yet she tries to gain support from the very communities she disrespects. People are now sharing their negative experiences with her, reinforcing the perception that she’s not kind or respectful.

It seems clear that JLo’s reputation as a difficult person precedes her, making it challenging for her to appeal to today’s audience. Despite her fame, her talent is often questioned, and her behavior towards others further diminishes her appeal. In the age of social media, where personal stories and experiences can be shared widely, JLo’s image continues to suffer.
